PICK YOUR NICHE
Whether you have a blog or a website , you need to pick a niche in which you are comfortable, for example i am comfortable with wrtiting about adsense. This is vital as you need to be able to give out good information content to your readers or viewers.
FIND KEYWORDS THAT SUITE YOUR NICHE
You can use the google adword suggestions to get a good idea about the keywords in your niche, use the good adwords which can pay a lot of money on CPC basis. But do not use keywords that have a lot of competition.
UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE/BLOG EVERY WEEK AT THE LEAST
Keep updating to attract more targetted traffic, which of course leads to more revenue.
AD PLACEMENT
Place your ads in between text or on top of the page, so that there is a clear visibility of the ads.
AD COLOUR AND TYPE
Blend the ad into your site or blog to make it look less like an ad and more like a part of the website. People will try not to click on ads, but if it looks like a part of the website, they surely will.
Usually large rectangles or wide ad formats work the best as ads are more easily visible in these. I have found maximum profit from this.
CONTEXTUAL ADS
Contextual ads are obviously what google tries to give each publisher but you may not always get good contextual ads. To ensure you get good contextual ads, make sure you have a good number of key words.
